Mrs. Neill's Favorite Books to Read to Lily:
- Wherever You Are, My Love Will Find You by Nancy Tillman (Feiwel & Friends, 2010). This is my favorite book to read to Lily for bedtime or just when we are rocking to get ready for a nap. I hope she never forgets the words of this book - they are all true!
- The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt (Penguin, 2013). This is my favorite "new" (as in, it wasn't written yet when I was growing up) children's book! It is a perfect example of personification and it also presents a unique point of view (clearly we won't be talking about these things for a few years, but it never hurts to prepare early). In this case, it is the point of view of each crayon in a little boy's box of crayons. Some crayons are feeling great, others over-used, others under-appreciated. This book is fun for young and adult readers alike and I highly recommend it!
- Oh Say Can You Say by Dr. Seuss (Random House, 1979). This books is so much fun for three reasons: 1) It was my favorite book for my mom to read to me when I was little, 2) Lily likes to smile when she hears rhymes and her smile is adorable, and 3) I like to challenge myself by reading the tongue twisters as fast as I can. Definitely a classic!
